The official colours of 2016 have been forecast

I couldn’t be happier about Pinterest’s prediction of the top two womenswear colour trends of the year: Mint Green and Blush Pink. Using their smart as a whip “Pinsights” to pull out the key colours in fashion and home related pins, they announced the revelation that they expect to see a rise in these shades on the highstreet. With Blush being pinned 100 per cent more since February and Mint not far behind at 40 per cent since December, these amounts are set to increase more over the summer months.

While Pinterest’s efforts to use their trendboard site for data collection on trends is certainly an admirable use of their success, I for one am sceptical of the quality of this data given that it is based on what people are already doing solely on their platform and not much else. It would appear I’m not alone as Pantone executive director stressed the need for a science to colour prediction rather than basing decision on “mass reaction”. Pantone have stated Rose Quartz and Serenity as the colours of the year which is at complete odds with Pinterest’s prediction- I guess time will tell! I’ll leave you with these beautiful Mint and Blush colour stories, all images are pinched from Pinterest:
